Ale Review 01
I was very lucky to have tried some fine home brew the other week. Brewed by the lovely JimmyPhoto who I have had the good fortune to meet through The Photography Collective (more about that in just a min).
I thought i would give it a litle review as, well it was jolly nice.
It was refreshing to drink something from a bottle with no label for a start, giving me a different level of anticipation...
Frame/Mount sizes - arent they wrong?
Well, I was going to have a tittleritttle rant about this myself but seems someone else had the bright idea too - why are mount/frame sizes based on old view camera sizes and digital aspect ratios?

Negative
Its always a bit demoralising getting negative feedback. Is it easier to give positive or negative comments? I think depends on if you find it easy to identity what you like in something or what you don’t like. Admittedly I’m of the later.

a single image
Late last night I was ruffling through my image library looking for an image, a single image to enter a competition. This in a strange way was quite new to me as the last year or so I’ve only thought about series. This is partly based on good advice on getting into the fine art world but I realised maybe in doing so I’d ignored hundreds of photos I’d taken.

stock or not
I dipped a toe into stock today (results as yet un-known) and got a little confused. What makes a stock image and what doesn’t? Having a large catalogue of as yet unused images and fighting usually for arts sake I wasn’t sure if anything was stock or not. Was preparing to be branded with hot irons on my hide a good idea or should I look at this as last resort? Can I judge my photos...

snow experimentation
So in the UK we recently had some of the best or worst snow for a long time (depending on your situation). For many photographers the opportunity to actually get chance to take some snow pictures was very rewarding.

A costly year for reward
You have to speculate to accumulate and again this year I will be entering an array of competitions/awards of my latest and still in development photo projects, however at £20-60 each it starts to add up if there is no reward. This link collates most competitions although you have to sift through to find the more contemporary opportunities - I will try to post my own...
